Janice Verone - Owner & Director

Elite Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical,  Modern/Contemporary Teacher, Competition Team Choreographer 

Melissa Chisena had the privilege of dancing and touring nationally with North Carolina Dance Theatre and The Richmond Ballet.  Currently residing in Philadelphia, PA, has danced with Jeanne Ruddy Dance and Tania Isaac Dance.  She has performed nationally and internationally at venues such as Bates Dance Festival, Jacob's Pillow, Aaron Davis Hall-Harlem Stage, Dance Place in DC, The Annenberg Center, The Suzanne Roberts Theatre, The Wilma, St. Lucia, and numerous colleges throughout the US.  Her choreography has been featured at North Carolina Dance Theatre, Richmond Ballet, American Dance Festival, Regional Dance America, Ursinus College, Richard Stockton College, Philadelphia Dance Theatre, Yes! Invitational, Come Together Festival, Grounds for Sculpture and many other venues across the Northeast.  She is currently a member of the NADINE Project, a collaborative choreographic company Connecticut, Stone Depot Dance Lab, Beau Hancock, The Naked Stark, Tara Madsen-Robbins, and runs her own company, Chisena Danza.  She currently teaches at Janice's DanceWorks, Philadelphia Dance Theatre and is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique.  She has also taught at Temple University, Ursinus College, Bryn Mawr College, Eastern University, Stockton University, and Dance Elite. She was the producer of An Evening of Duets, and Norristown Dance Fest for a number of years and is currently the director and founder of The Philadelphia Youth Dance Fest and World Dance Sampler Summer Intensive. Melissa is thrilled to be a part of the JDW staff! 

Believer's Dance Scholarship Assistant DIrector 

Tumbling, Pre-Dance Combo,  Performance Team Lead and Choreographer

Kimberly began dancing at age four and was trained in all genres of dance at a local dance studio. Kim successfully completed a rigorous teacher’s training program which included both class time and internships and has been teaching dance and acro for the past 20 years. Over her years of dancing, Kim performed with a traveling dance troupe, who provided community service in Delaware County; she would volunteer her time to entertain the community at local malls, nursing homes and civic events during the holiday season. She was also a member of an

Award winning Competition Team that attended both regional and national dance competitions, including Star Power, Company Dance, and New York City Dance Alliance. She has also performed in Walt Disney World alongside a small group of Rocekettes and her favorite Disney original character Goofy. Kimberly attributes much of her success to “hard work” and “dedication” and she has always been truly excited to share her love of dance and performance with all of her DanceWorks students.

Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical, Competition Team Choregrapher

"Kirsten Senske is a versatile dancer, choreographer, and artist with a degree in Animation & Visual Effects from Drexel University, along with minors in Dance and Psychology. She began her dance training at age three, studying a variety of styles including modern, contemporary, ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and tap. Originally immersed in competitive dance, Kirsten has since expanded her artistic practice into concert dance, site-specific performance, and dance film, exploring the intersection of movement and visual storytelling. During her time with the Drexel Dance Ensemble, Kirsten collaborated with a diverse range of choreographers and artists, including Rebecca Malcolm-Naib, Julian Everett-Blair Darden, Miriam Giguere, Dara Meredith, Olive Prince, Alli Wilingham, and Hassan Syed. She has also worked with Tori Lawrence + Co., performed with ContempraDANCE Theatre Company, and presented choreography at the Philadelphia Latino Arts & Film Festival. Kirsten loves sharing her experience and enthusiasm for dance and is thrilled to teach at Janice’s Danceworks!" 

Advanced and Intermediate Tap Teacher

Alaina Hubbard began dancing at just two years old, training in all genres with choreographers from around the world. Alongside her recreational and competitive training, she developed a strong focus in hip hop. At seven, she joined Platinum All Stars, performing at events such as the Philadelphia 76ers, Harlem Globetrotters, Women’s Final Four, college lacrosse, and minor league football games. In 2016, Alaina joined Beat Addikts United, training with top talent across the Tri-State area. A year later, she became a member of FloMotion Dance Company, a pre-professional hip hop group competing at events such as Monsters of Hip Hop and other major East Coast competitions. In 2017, she performed for Kwamé in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade, broadcast on 6ABC.

After graduating, Alaina focused on her passion for teaching. She currently teaches, choreographs, and assists in directing company at PassMORE Dance, where she has also had the opportunity to be mentored and trained in tap under Robin Passmore. In addition, she teaches at Touch of Class Dance Studio and guest teaches at PowerHouse Dance Studio. She has also choreographed for Philly Phresh Crew, founded by Dana Smith, continuing to expand her impact within the dance community.

Office Manager & Administrative Assistant

 Substitute Teacher for all genres

Pauline Maiura, a teacher and choreographer based out of Delaware, is a Drexel University graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Dance, with a focus in Entertainment Management and in Somatics. During her time at Drexel, she studied under artists such as Olive Prince, Rebecca Arends, Sandra Parks, Meredith Rainey, Dinita Clark, Belén Maya, and more. Through working with the Drexel Dance Ensemble, she has also performed professional works by Boris Charmatz, Beau Hancock, Jennifer Morley, Dara Meredith Stevens, Michael Nickerson-Rossi, and Miriam Giguere. Pauline completed a co-operative internship with the Nickerson-Rossi Dance Company through Drexel and traveled to California to perform in the (formerly) International Dance Festival, which she helped manage and put together. She also traveled abroad to study dance at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2018. Currently Pauline enjoys teaching in many different genres of studio dance and sharing her love of movement with her students and is excited to be part of the Janice’s DanceWorks family! 

Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary and Performance Dance Team Choreographer

Hannah is a lifelong dancer and alumni of Janice's Danceworks. Following nearly 15 years of training and competing under JDW faculty, she attended the University of Delaware, where she will graduate in May 2026 with a double major in Health Behavior Science and Psychology, and a minor in dance. During her time at UD, Hannah had the opportunity to further study ballet, jazz, musical theater, tap, and dance history under the wonderful faculty of the UD Theater and Dance department. She had the privilege of being cast in several university dance productions, attending workshops and masterclasses with guest artists, and leading a dance workshop for local high school students. She was also a performance team member and choreographer for a student run dance team at UD. Hannah is currently an incoming student at Widener University obtaining her doctorate in occupational therapy. Hannah is beyond excited to return home to JDW and share her love for dance with the next generation!
